Owners of a cask originally sold by The Whisky Index will be able to resell it here, with the same evidence discipline as everything else on this site: what they paid, when, and how the price compares with the market.
No owner has listed a cask for resale yet. When they do, you'll see it here alongside new casks sold directly by us — clearly marked, with what the owner paid, when, and a fair-price label so you can see how it compares with the market.
Every owner sale will only go live once Castlelaw has directly confirmed the owner is the cask's registered owner, with no holds, charges or unpaid amounts — the same standard we hold every cask on this site to. Your payment will be held securely by our payment provider, Stripe, until that transfer is confirmed into your name and your 14-day cancellation period has ended.
If The Whisky Index sold you a cask, it's held at Castlelaw in your own name, and you're verified with us, you'll be able to sell it here directly to another buyer. The process: tell us you want to sell (everything about your cask and your identity is already on file), set your price or a private minimum, then accept the Owner Resale Terms and sign a transfer authority on one confirmation screen. Your listing then shows "Confirming with Castlelaw" until we record their direct confirmation that you're the registered owner with no holds, charges or unpaid amounts — nothing you upload yourself can substitute for that.
Once your cask sells, we notify Castlelaw under your transfer authority. Your payout — the sale price less our fee of 8% (minimum £250) — is released once the transfer is confirmed into the buyer's name and their 14-day cancellation period has ended.
