The Whisky Index sells whole Scotch whisky casks directly from its own stock: one cask, one owner. Legal and beneficial title transfers once the bonded warehouse confirms the transfer into the buyer's name — not simply at the moment of purchase. If you run a whisky, collectibles, or alternative-asset audience, you can promote our live cask inventory as an Awin publisher.
We can't tell you what a buyer's cask will be worth. We can make sure they don't overpay for it: every cask is priced by the litre of alcohol, the one unit that makes very differently sized casks comparable, so a buyer can check any quote — ours or anyone else's — against current asking prices. This is the real pitch, not a return promise, and it's the honest angle your copy should lead with.
Every cask has its own real record — distillery, reference number, cask type, and ABV — shown before it's ever listed, and specifically identified, so the cask you promote is the exact cask a buyer purchases. Not every fact on a record has been independently checked by us: each one carries its own status (confirmed against a document or the warehouse, supplied by the supplier and not yet independently checked, or not yet available) — see how records work. No pooled inventory, no placeholder listings, and never the cask's real cask number — the public record shows a reference (e.g. “TWI-0039”) instead.
Every cask includes 3 years of storage and insurance at Castlelaw, from the date the buyer is registered as owner. After that, Castlelaw charges its standard rates directly to the buyer, and we remind them beforehand. After ownership transfers, we move the cask to Castlelaw at our own cost if it isn't already there, and every buyer has a 14-day right to cancel for a full refund after ownership transfers.
Approved publishers earn up to 15% commission, set and paid through Awin. The exact rate on any given sale depends on the price of the cask that sold — we report the correct group automatically, there's nothing for you to select. Check your Awin dashboard for the exact commission credited to your account.
Publishers may also be placed into one of several named tiers, reflecting factors like content quality and track record. Tier names describe how a publisher relationship is categorised internally. They do not state or imply a rate beyond the table above, and a higher-named tier is never a promise of a higher buyer return on any cask.
Every cask is a real, specific, whole asset, not a security, not a fund, not a fractional interest. Your promotional copy must never claim or imply any of the following, under any circumstance:
Your copy must always make these facts clear, not just avoid contradicting them:
We provide a library of pre-approved copy you can use directly. Using it is the fastest way to stay compliant. Written creative outside that library is reviewed before it can be used to promote us.
