A cask you buy is held under bond at Castlelaw, an independent bonded warehouse we don't own or control. Your ownership becomes real the moment Castlelaw updates its own records to show you as the owner, not when you pay us and not because of anything we say in an email or on your dashboard.
That distinction matters because it means you don't have to take our word for your own ownership. Once your ownership is confirmed, Castlelaw sets you up with your own direct account, separate from your account with us and not shared with or visible to us, so you can see your cask's real warehouse record and confirm your ownership directly with Castlelaw, independently of anything we tell you.

A whisky cask is a physical good: one specifically identified cask of Scotch whisky, held under bond. It is not a share, a bond, a fund, or any other kind of regulated financial investment, and buying one is not an investment activity we, or anyone else, regulates or promises a return on. We don't tell anyone which cask will rise in value, because nobody, including us, genuinely knows that in advance. See our risk disclosure for the full detail.
We are the seller of every cask on this site: we sell as principal, sourced from our supplier at the point of sale, never as a broker introducing you to someone else's cask.
Where we show price context on a cask (a comparison against other cask prices), that comparison is built only from our own current listings, not an independent, third-party market survey. It's a useful reference point, not proof of a fair market price on its own: we'd encourage you to compare independently, against other sellers, before relying on it.
