This is a self-employed referral programme, not employment.
You refer people who have asked you about owning a cask of Scotch whisky. We handle everything else.
What you do
You share your own tracked link with people who have asked you about owning a cask.
You only refer. You don’t sell, take payments or give advice of any kind; we handle every sale.
You choose if, when and how often you share. There are no targets and no set hours.
How you’re paid
Commission only, on your own completed sales, paid by Awin, the affiliate network. There is no retainer, no fee to join and no pay for introducing other ambassadors.
Commission is paid per completed sale, worked out from the cask price: 10p in every £1 for casks under £5,000, 15p in every £1 for casks from £5,000 up to and including £9,000, 17.5p in every £1 for casks over £9,000.
For example, a completed sale of a £6,000 cask pays £900 in commission, at 15p in every £1.
That example shows how the rate works. It is not a promise of what you will earn.
Most people sell 0 to 2 casks a year.
You are self-employed for tax. Commission is your income: tell HMRC about it. The £1,000 trading allowance may cover small amounts; above that you register for Self Assessment. We don’t deduct tax or National Insurance.
Who can apply
You must be 25 or over and live in the UK. Earn is open in the UK only.
Ambassadors must be 25 or over because the advertising code says people in alcohol marketing must be, and seem, 25 or over (CAP 18.16).
You apply; nobody joins automatically. A person reviews every application.
If you’re approved, you pass an ID check and complete a short course before your link goes live.
Awin may ask for a small refundable card deposit when you open your account; it’s returned with your first commission payment, and The Whisky Index never charges you anything.
