Verification Standards

How availability, document, warehouse and transfer-readiness signals are interpreted on The Whisky Index.

Important legal notice

The Whisky Index provides information, workflow tools, indicative valuation support, marketplace presentation, document review workflows, and buyer/seller matching support. We do not provide investment, financial, legal, tax, insurance, HMRC, or regulatory advice. Whisky casks are specialist assets and may be illiquid, difficult to verify, difficult to transfer, and may lose value. Nothing on this site guarantees ownership title, warehouse confirmation, transfer completion, buyer demand, sale price, resale timing, profit, or future performance.

Read our Terms, Risk Disclosure, Privacy Policy, and Cookies Policy before using the platform.

Availability confirmed

Availability confirmed means the opportunity is currently understood to be available through the supplier or source at the time of review. It does not guarantee the cask will remain available, cannot be withdrawn, or will be reserved before a buyer enquiry progresses.

Documents confirmed

Documents confirmed means supporting ownership, sale or cask information has been indicated as available or suitable for review. It does not remove the need for final buyer-side document checks before any transaction.

Warehouse confirmed

Warehouse confirmed means the warehouse position or storage location is known from the supplied information. It does not guarantee warehouse consent, transfer completion, ownership update, insurance position, HMRC treatment or absence of storage charges.

Pending transfer review

Pending transfer review means the cask should not be treated as transaction-complete or transfer-ready until the transfer route, seller authority, warehouse process and buyer-side requirements have been checked.

Limits of verification

Platform verification is a commercial review layer. It is not a legal opinion, title guarantee, warehouse guarantee, HMRC confirmation, insurance confirmation, audit, or regulated assurance service unless specifically agreed in a signed written contract.
