How It Works
How The Whisky Index helps buyers and owners review real cask opportunities, pricing context, documents, warehouse position and next steps.
1. Start with a real cask or offer
Buyers can review current supplier-backed opportunities in the marketplace. Owners and prospective buyers can also submit a cask, sale offer, or purchase offer for a second opinion before progressing.
2. Check pricing context
Public marketplace guide prices are based on current supplier-backed casks approved for display. Second-opinion checks compare submitted offers against live guide-price context where relevant, then flag whether the offer appears below, within, or above the current comparison range.
3. Review documents and warehouse position
Cask details are reviewed for document clarity, warehouse position, supplier backing, availability and transfer-readiness. These checks reduce avoidable uncertainty, but they do not replace final buyer-side due diligence or legal review.
4. Enquiry first, not instant checkout
The Whisky Index does not operate a one-click checkout for casks. A buyer requests details, the team reviews fit and availability, and the transfer route is confirmed before anything progresses.
5. Human review before progression
Final steps depend on supplier confirmation, document review, warehouse process, buyer suitability and transaction readiness. Guide prices, scores and review signals are decision-support tools, not guarantees.
